A young Palestinian boy who grew up in Syria is forced to flee as war engulfs his neighbourhood in Damascus. Years later, he is still trapped in Beirut, with no work, no friends and the war raging in his old home, he turns to his phone. Our film does not use a traditional camera; it employs a depth-sensing instrument, like the algorithms behind social media, our protagonist’s world is turned into a string of numbers, he is ‘datafied’, processed and re-projected onto our screens. Today, social media is far from the warm community it was once dreamed of being. But the regime the Palestinian boy fled has fallen, he can go home.
