In 1947 a woman named Edith Eyde created the first known lesbian publication in the world. She typed it at work on her typewriter. It was illegal to write about such subjects. She typed and produced 10 copies each month and distributing them reliant on trust and word of mouth. Other publications followed, a community formed, laws changed. Communication is a force for change. Politically and personally.
My practice focuses on creating work which conveys a message, tells a narrative which provokes thought and evokes emotion. Exploring the subtlety of language through the mediums of documentary film and type. An intimate portrayal of sexual identity.
